English: Runner (Bronze)found at Harbour of Nemrut (Kyme)Late Hellenistic Period 50-30 BC. The statue found in the open shores of the ancient city of Kyme portrays a nude athlete. The object supposed to be held in his left hand could not have been found. It is known that the winners of the Olympic Games were honoured by their statues in the Ancient Greek and Aegean world. This sculpture should describe an athlete, winner of the javelin throwing games.
Türkçe: Koşan Atlet (Tunç). Nemrut Limanı (Kyme)'de bulunmuştur. Geç Helenistik Dönem, M.Ö. 50-30. Ege Denizi'nde Kyme Antik Kenti açıklarında bulunan bu heykel çıplak bir atleti göstermektedir. Sol elinde tuttuğu nesne bulunamamıştır. Antik dönem Yunanistan ve Ege dünyasında olimpiyat oyunlarında birinci gelen sporcuların heykellerinin yapıldığı bilinmektedir. Bu heykel de muhtemelen cirit atma dalında birinci gelen bir sporcuya ait olmalıdır. İzmir Arkeoloji Müzesi'nde sergilenmektedir. |
